Getting to know regulations in Rhode Island
The Office of Nutraceutical Regulation (OCR) in Rhode Island holds the responsibility of overseeing and regulating the licensing process for all commercial nutraceutical activities within the state. It is now mandatory for all licensees involved in the cultivation, manufacturing, transportation, testing, or sale of nutraceutical products to implement a tracking system.
Rhode Island has been an early adopter in the field of nutraceutical legalization. In 2006, the state legalized medical nutraceutical through the Edward O. Hawkins and Thomas C. Slater Medical Nutraceutical Act. More recently, in May 2022, the Rhode Island Nutraceutical Act was signed into law. This act permits the personal use and licensed sale of nutraceutical to adults throughout the state.
